Pacific Plaza – Health and Living, Liberia, Costa Rica – During the height of the U.S. recession, John successfully delivered a fully licensed emergency, acute care hospital and medial office building in Latin America serving as the anchor tenant within a 60 acre, fully integrated continuing care and retirement master plan. Pacific Plaza Health and Living is the first of its kind in the country. John acted as the Owner’s Representative and Senior Project Manager of this project.

The Hospital and medical office buildings were the first phase of the healthcare campus development. Additional phases include a 60-unit medical hotel/condo, a 122 unit independent living facility, a skilled nursing and memory care facility and residential lots along the perimeter of this gated community.With the cost of living over 50% less than that in the U.S. and Canada, Senior’s have the opportunity to retire gracefully and “age in place” in their retirement years. The project is designed to cater to the aging U.S. and Canadian retirement population seeking a more affordable alternative to quality healthcare, wellness and community living.


Remington Place – As President of Partners Group, LLC, John developed two licensed assisted living facilities in Waco and Longview, Texas. The projects were two of the first seniors facilities developed under the EB-5 program utilizing foreign investment for U.S. residency. Over $6MM in foreign equity was raised and 80 full time jobs created for the community. Both facilities were sold to Emeritus Senior Living prior to completion.


Torch Healthcare – Also while with Partners Group, John located land, designed and built three assisted living facilities for Torch Healthcare, LLC. The facilities were later sold to Horizon Bay Senior Living, a wholly owned subsidiary of Brookdale Senior Living, the nation’s largest owner and operator of senior living communities. Horizon Bay communities offer a special combination of apartment living, personalized supportive services and health care designed to help their residents maintain their independence, health and well-being.


Kingsley Place Assisted Living Projects – Kingsley Place Assisted Living Facility is an 80,000 sf, single-story, fully licensed assisted living and memory care facility. Integrated Living Communities (ILC-NYSE), owner, completed a public spinoff in early 2000 where John secured this $100MM contract and was the principal in charge at Aguirre-Roden Corporation, Dallas, Texas. Sixteen (16) locations were secured for ILC and seven (7) built and sold to Emeritus and Brookdale Senior Living communities once ILC went private. The remaining sites were either fee-developed or sold to other private senior housing operators.


CIMACima – Puebla, Mexico – While the Senior Development Officer at the Beck Group, Dallas, Texas, John identified six publicly held Real Estate Investment Trusts to enter into negotiations with International Hospital Corporation also of Dallas for a comprehensive sale lease back transaction under a NNN lease structure. Part of the transaction was to complete the construction of CIMA-Puebla, Beck’s third hospital construction project for the client.

CIMA-San Jose, serves as the parent hospital of the Pacific Plaza Health and Living Hospital and Medical Office Building developed in Liberia, Costa Rica.
